Bath at Miracle Well Miracle Well It is a traditional Indian belief that tonsuring of one’s head makes one person get rid of the ego in oneself. It is an external sign of internal emptying. For, to be filled by the grace of God one has to get rid of the ahankara. This Indian practice is assimilated into the devotional practices in Catholic Christianity. Interesting as it is tonsuring at Shrine of Puliampatti resembling the head of St. Anthony of Padua – making a ring of hair in the head, is very popular. Tonsure of head is usually make as a sign of thanksgiving to the Saint for answering the prayers made previously.
